We were in a Walgreens just off the freeway. I’m holding snacks while M has a foldable snow shovel and a flashlight. S and J stand nearby. Are you all friends, a woman behind us in the queue asks. We say yeah. And you’re all going on a trip together, she asks. We nod. That’s so nice, she says this almost to herself, leaning against her trolley.
When I’m doing other things, I keep hearing her say: that’s so nice, because it is. I really felt it in her voice and it’s good to feel it for the little (big) things sometimes. Going on a trip, with friends.
